The Voice Explores / Beard Gang: Part 1

From Rick Ross to George Cloony, Spartans to Fidel Castro . One thing that these men have in common is a beard. In recent years it has become a growing trend to keep and maintain a beard. Traditionally speaking, a beard represents masculinity and dominance. The beard also has been traditionally linked to religious ideals; many prophets across history and religions have donned and promoted their beards. Perhaps for a time these were left to the untraditional career choices and for the older men. Recently however we have seen younger men and even younger professionals grow beards.

Is the rise of beards associated solely to religious or traditional ideals or has it become a fashion statement for young men?

Can something also be said of beards as a political statement?

An act of rebellion?
